What practice areas can Singularity cover?

Any of them, in practical terms. Singularity does not niche into a practice area: we search a network of more than a thousand South African lawyers who have already registered their interest in being placed, so every shortlist is built around your work rather than around whoever happens to be on a bench.

Nine areas hold live placements today. Where yours is not among them, the heavy crossover between practice areas, and lawyers trained to research their way into new ground, closes the gap quickly, faster still when your firm shares its precedents and training.

Areas with placements today

Employment, IP and trade marks, corporate, commercial, medical negligence, family, consumer claims, wills and probate, and private client. The work our lawyers run with in each is set out on the practice areas pages, and further areas are already served in a paralegal capacity.

How a lawyer crosses into a new area

Most practice areas share far more than they keep separate: the drafting discipline, the research method, the file management. South African lawyers are trained researchers who are used to educating themselves into new precedents and procedure, and they do it fastest when the firm acknowledges the gap and provides its own materials and training in the first weeks rather than leaving them to guess.

The two honest exceptions

Conveyancing and immigration are both viable, but they sit furthest from South African practice, so they need the most additional training before a hire is genuinely productive. We say that upfront and plan the training with you, rather than letting a placement struggle quietly. And in any area, if we cannot staff the seat well, we will say so.

Bring the seat you are struggling to fill.
