How does Singularity differ from an outsourcing provider?

There is no shared bench and no allocated work. A firm interviews a shortlist, chooses one named lawyer, and that lawyer works full time for that firm alone, in its systems and under its supervision. How the firm records the arrangement in its own compliance framework is a matter for its COLP.

When is outsourcing a better fit than a full-time placement?

How is this different from legal process outsourcing?

Legal process outsourcing means sending work to a provider, who allocates it across a shared team. You buy output, and you generally do not choose or manage the people producing it. Singularity works the other way round: you interview a shortlist, choose one named lawyer, and that person works full time for your firm and nobody else.

Your consultant works your hours, on your matters, inside your document management system, under your supervision. No other client's deadlines compete for their afternoon. Supervision and responsibility

Under an outsourcing arrangement a firm still cannot hand off its accountability, and the same is true here. Responsibility for the work stays with your firm as a matter of regulation, and our terms are written so that nothing in the commercial arrangement cuts across it. The difference is that supervising one person you chose, who sits in your systems every day, is a great deal simpler than supervising work produced by a team you never meet.

When outsourcing is the better choice

If you have a short, bounded project, a one-off document review, or a spike of work that will be over in a few weeks, outsourcing it is probably the right answer and a full-time placement is not. This model earns its keep when the work is ongoing and a seat genuinely needs filling.
